Along with the usual caveats for outdated negative stereotypes, here's a favorite cartoonist of mine, Ed Wheelan. Perhaps best known for his serialized MINUTE MOVIES strip that parodied movie melodramas of its day with a Jay Ward style humor (predating Jay Ward), Wheelan did similar features for various other publishers and in newspapers for years. This one, for example, is a serialized Sherlock Holmes parody from an early issue of Harvey's CHAMP COMICS.
