The 7-11 Gang-Tony Basso-1937


Apparently the colorist ran out of colors as he or she finished up the first page here. This pre-Superman comic book story was reprinted post-Superman, too, (seen here) with nearly the exact same color--and lack of color-- scheme.

I note that, as well as, for the most part, ceasing to bother with coloring, the story switches from a 3×2 grid to a 2×2 grid, and uses its panels inefficiently. The thing seems to be no more than an attempt at a passable use of seven pages.

It's a wired little art style. Looks like it was drawn by a 12 year old kid who never had a lesson. He just learned to draw by trying to draw a lot.
